District Judge Neil Wake will discuss proposed changes in civil case management percolating through the Federal Court in Arizona. Should District Judges take a more prominent role in the initial case management conference?

BENCH AND BAR PANEL: DO’s & DON’Ts OF FEDERAL PRACTICE

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

District Judges Frank Zapata and Cindy Jorgenson and experienced Federal Court litigators Michael J. Rusing, Jeffrey Willis and AUSA Janet Martin will discuss what to do and what to avoid doing at all costs in Federal Court Practice.

ORAL ADVOCACY BEFORE THE FEDERAL COURTS

3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Gain perspectives on oral advocacy in the Federal Courts. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Michael D. Hawkins will discuss effective oral advocacy before the Federal Court of Appeals, Magistrate Judge Charles Pyle will discuss effective summary judgment advocacy from the trial judge’s perspective, and other speakers will discuss effective oral advocacy from the practitioner’s point of view.

Cost: $45 for FBA members, and $65 for non-FBA members
