The Legends is the Tucson FBA chapter’s annual event to recognize legendary members of Southern Arizona’s legal community. This free event helps preserve the stories and celebrate the contributions of who helped shape and create the practice of law in Tucson and Arizona.
More information on this year’s event will be published soon.
Our Nuts & Bolts series begins with one of the most important decisions in a criminal case: will the defendant be released or detained, and if released, under what conditions?
Led by the Honorable Magistrate Judge Charles R. Pyle, this session will review the law, burdens, and procedure for both prosecution and defense advocacy of detention. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bob Miskell will present the substantive law. Defense attorney Leslie Bowman and Assistant U.S. Attorney Reese Bostwick will argue in a mock detention hearing.
All three attorneys will join Judge Pyle and Jerry Brown from Pretrial Services for a panel discussion following the mock hearing.
To reserve a space in this free, enrollment limited event, please email Lori Price, Judge Pyle’s law clerk at lori_price [at] azd [dot] uscourts [dot] gov. Please reserve early to avoid being wait-listed.
